Is christianity and islam holding back human progress?

Christianity was in the forefront of killing and oppressing those who knew how nature worked and are still to this day are trying to p legislation that would teach creationism in schools.Does anyone really want to have the bible teach biology other than the creationist.It's over 2,000years later and leaders of both religions still persist in spreading ancient beliefs that science have pr oven many of them wrong. Why do many theist spread the lie that most scientific discoveries were found by believers? The fact that some were religious has nothing to do with science.Those people just happened to be religious. Why are so many leaders obsessed with belief that anything that is not religious is religious?
