Are we losing our civility?

As a society, we spend a great deal of time on our bodies, our health, and our leisure.. We have all sorts of gadgets, technologies, medicines, pills, and toys to make our lives more fun and enjoyable. Yet it seems we are spending less and less time on improving our relationships with each other and on attending to each other as human beings. We seem to have lost the civility that was once expected of grown adults. We are impatient, self-centered, vain, foul-mouthed, vulgar, promiscuous, lascivious, greedy, capricious, meretricious and temporally, as opposed to spiritually, involved. Is it possible that we are not only losing our civility as a society, but what makes us divine? And could it be that the very technologies that are making our lives easier are also making it easier for us, to borrow from Judge Bork, slouch towards Gomorrah? Or to borrow from Joan Osborne, are we all just slobs?
