Combi boilers which one is best for our needs?

We are looking at replacing our existing boiler for a combi-boiler! British Gas told us that we couldn't have a combi because there were to many people living at our house and they were only any use for flats! We live in a three bed semi, two adults three children. Is this true or can we have a combi?
