Did I make the right move with this guy????

I mean its always about this guy or this girl...RIGHT?? Well, I'm into this guy and I gave him a valentine card...He and i are only friends but only for like a year and we don't really know each other very well, he knows I'm crushing on him as more then friends...He flirts with me and we make silly little comments but never pursue it cuz he is dating someone right now!!!! I like him and i wanted to give him something so i got him this cute card with a little note inside thanking him for his friendship and left my number letting him know if he ever just wants to talk and he was really sweet about getting it, but I'm wondering did I make the right move???? Or am I just acting out of desperation bcuz i really want this guy??? Please help anyone, a guy preferable cuz would this scare you off or intrigue you to want more??? A males opinion would make a difference....Thanx
